MEDIA AFRICA

It is a construction that is based on collecting negative things from different African countries and putting them together in one place.

When there is flood in Mozambique,
You pour it into that place.
When there is political or civil unrest in Kenya,
You pour it into that place.
When there is a plane crash in Nigeria,
You pour it into that place.

Rape of women in the Congo

You pour it into that place.

War in the Sudan,

You pour it into that place.
We never get the idea that we are talking about different countries

separated by thousands of miles, languages, and cultures. The real Africa is diverse.

It is made up of many different countries with a lot of goodness and some bad too,

like other continents in the globe.

One big Challenge

Media construction of Nigeria as negative

When a Nigerian does a bad thing, it is emphasized in the media.

But I want you to know one thing as we celebrate the freedom of Nigeria from Britain.

I want you to know that there are many Nigerians who do good and great things.

There are many Nigerians who contribute positively

to America, Nigeria and the world.
